Hi, what a wonderful use of materials in the kitchen. Could you please tell me how the Pierre Brun was used for the countertops? Did you use the largest tiles available, are there grout lines? Cannot quite tell from the picture. I am struggling with countertop material. Bought a new home and must make decision ASAP. Have soapstone in my current home which is beautiful when oiled but entirely too much maintenance for our family! Would sincerely appreciate your response. »
Amoroso Design Hello there and thank you for your kind words. The countertop is slab of Pierre Brune (Walker Zanger's name for the brown limestone). I would try to avoid using a countertop material that comes as tile pieces as grout lines get very nasty, quickly. If budget is an issue (and really... when is it not?) Spend less on your backsplash to enable the purchase of a slab countertop material for fabrication. The good news... limestone's price point is really reasonable compared to Calcata marble or even Caesarstone. Happy Designing!
Rebekah Zaveloff | KitchenLab Great looking kitchen - those look like a 1x4 Lagos Azul stone or possibly a ceramic that's similar in color. Ann Sacks has something similar in a ceramic, but I think it's stone.
Break up a sea of white with dark subway tiles as a functional feature wall. This is also a great way to use tiles that might be a little out of your budget without breaking the bank. Using them in a small area not only saves money, but makes the most out of them by giving them special attention.

Potfiller faucets, common in restaurants, are becoming more common fixtures near stoves in gourmet kitchens. The articulated arms reduce back strain by being able to fill big pots with water.
An out-of-the-box design idea: Consider using a potfiller fixture as your main faucet for a large bathroom or kitchen sink.
You can also display pasta in your kitchen without a renovation, of course. Simply fill jars with dry pastas and show them off on your countertop for an instant pasta-drawer effect.
