Windfall Lumber western maple live edge tabletops have the bark of the tree removed letting the natural edge of the log dictate the piece. As in nature no two trees are alike, therefore each piece will have its own unique character with inclusion of surface checking and natural cracks in the wood. Western (big leaf) maple originates in the Western United States along the Pacific coast. The wood varies from reddish white, sometimes with a grayish cast, to a light pinkish-brown. Much of the wood is straight grained but can produce some highly figure that includes wavy, quilted, fiddle-back or birds-eye grain patterns. The live edge can be mounted up or down, (please specify when ordering or otherwise will be finished with topside up) with planks approximately 10″ to 14″ wide. See additional information for tabletop sizes.
