This original charcoal sketch by a noted Bay Area Figurative Movement painter reflects the loose, abstract style of the period, capturing the essence of its subject with just a few expressive lines. Sketched in the 1950s or 1960s, it has an eternal freshness to it, like a snapshot of a figure forever in a state of becoming. As wall art, it gives the room an informal yet cultured touch.

The palette and brush technique in this piece are both very representative of this significant art movement. McGaffey is still living and resides in the seaside town of Pacifica, California, where she maintains her painting studio. Unframed.
