jewelgirl Pour ammonia over the rocks. It will kill any green growing so not too much. Also keeps cats and critters out of flowerbeds etc. but there you can just put out a dish, not into the dirt. But why do you want to kill them?
milner Thanks for speedy reply. I was interested in using gabions for our sloping garden, but already we are constantly fighting off marauding hordes of slugs and snails. The birds here just aren't up to the job - or are too well fed to deign dining on such fare. Even the hedgehog turns up his nose - so it's down to us. We go big game hunting at night with torch and bucket and collect copious amounts after heavy rainfall.
Serpentine, often considered an undesirable material is celebrated in this backyard. Instead of hauling off excess rocks during the homes remodel process, stone was kept onsite and placed in gabions. The gabions form a garden wall and bench seating.
