Houzz is the new way to design your home.
While novices tend to use a single outdoor post light to cover as much area as possible, those experienced in outdoor lighting design know better. High wattage and high angles can be uncomfortable to the eye and can "flatten" the viewer’s perception of steps, uneven surfaces and obstacles. By placing several low-voltage lights around the deck–below eye level and directed downward–depth perception is enhanced, the mood is more romantic, and glare is simply not a problem. Notice how the level changes are clearly visible and the deck’s sumptuous curves are highlighted. The hot-tub area is lit below the knee for a heightened sense of privacy when modest soakers exit the spa area.
