Compact Gallery

Located on Manhattan’s Upper West Side, this project serves as a pied-a-terre and urban vacation home for the owners. With one child in college and another at boarding school, they wanted a versatile space that could accommodate the entire family but that they could also enjoy without it feeling empty. The main living area of the 1300sf apartment can be partitioned off by a hidden, retractable wall, to create a second bedroom when needed. Additionally, they wanted to feature very significant pieces of their art collection and put them on equal footing with the spectacular views of Central Park beyond. By creating multi-use zones and large surfaces, the project transforms and adjusts to the client’s needs and desires.
