Use regular recessed fixtures and select trims that match the ceiling (in this case, they are silver metal) and they shouldn't be too conspicuous by day.

Annie Thornton It all comes down to maintenance. Different types of wood have different porosity, so some are better suited for food prep than others. Make sure to wipe down the counters with a hot soapy mixture after using them. You can dry them with a clean dry towel, or let them air dry. You should try to oil the counters every month or so, so that they don't dry out. If you ever want a deeper clean that just soap, you can try a food grade disinfectant. Studies have shown that the tannic acids in wood act as an antibacterial, so potentially butcher block countertops may be one of the most sanitary materials you can use.
