Does the transition between kitchen and living room depend upon a load bearing wall? What could some alternatives be if you have to keep some support in the arch but still want to achieve this look?
Thanks! »
The Brocato Group This look can be achieved even if it is a load bearing wall. It is a matter of making sure that your builder puts the proper support beam in place to cover the span. We have done quite a few similar to these with wide spans and no support columns. It is all about making sure your builder knows what he is doing or eventually the ceiling will begin to sag.
Anne DeCocco I would call this pattern a grid when searching for something similar. Have you tried CapelRugs.com or RugsDirect.com--or your local flooring store? This pattern would go well in all kinds of rooms!
WOULD YOU HAVE PICTURES OF THE GREAT ROOM SIDE OF THIS AREA? - WE'RE DOING PREETY MUCH THE SAME IN THE BAR AREA, BUT NEDD HELP ON FURNITURE LAY OUT IN GREAT ROOM!? THANKS »
Open up kitchen to dining room with continuing with small arch to large arch and leaving header space for support. Bar would be similar with bar stools in dining area.
similar kitchen/living/dining layout to our plan. Don't like how tight the living rm furniture is to back of stools. Interesting that they closed off the one side of the bar.
