North California Avenue Bungalow Bathroom Remodel

Kitchen, Chicago

There is really one thing that I just absolutely love in this bathroom… the floor! It is the most beautiful mosaic of Desitter Dark Emperador with Crema Marfil Fleur. It is bordered by a 6” strip of 1”x1” Crema Marfil mosaic – the combination is just breathtaking. The client decided to not do a chair-rail with beadboard on the walls (painted white) because she was afraid it would take away from the floor. We removed the tub from this guest bathroom and replaced it with a shower stall (3x6 Desitter “Biscuit” subway tiles with the same floor), but we had a slight problem in that the window is situated centered on the back wall. So, to solve the problem, we built a bench in the shower with the outer edge at an angle so the glass from the shower enclosure could terminate on the wall to the right of the window – two problems solved: a place to relax in the new over-sized shower and a way to terminate the glass enclosure without removing the window. The products we used in this Bungalow bathroom remodel include: Custom Espresso Birch Linen Cabinet (our shop); Toto Promenade pedestal sink and toilet; Custom medicine cabinet to match the linen cabinet; a Ty Fobarre 24 1/2 Vanity Light from the St. Remy Collection; Grohe plumbing fixtures including the Seabury lavatory faucet with lever handles, the matching pressure balance valve trim for the shower with the Relexa Trio Handshower.
