If I install bamboo floors into new enlarged kitchen, how does it get joined to the existing wood floors in the house? Or is it better to get stone or tile instead. Or a dark wood? Need ideas! »

bepsf Best thing to do is have a flooring professional come to your home and help you determine what type of wood you have, then extend it into your kitchen by weaving it into your existing floors - your home will appear more spacious and cohesive by having the same flooring throughout.

Bamboo Flooring- Stranded Bamboo has one of the highest ratings on the Janka Hardness scale. Red oak is around 1,268 pounds where Strand Bamboo can be up around 3,400 pounds up to 3,800 pounds depending upon the brand. I think the Stranded Bamboo is much prettier than regular bamboo. I'm partial to the carbonized darker color verses the lighter natural color, it seems to go with more. ** See photos below.

The bamboo flooring might look nice on the second floor. PlyBoo brand does not use formaldehyde in processing the wood.

I have not seen bamboo flooring with this striated look; all I've seen looks to have been cut cross-grain and has had little circular shapes in it. This bamboo look more like the oak hardwoods I grew up with. I certainly don't want to chop down several oak trees just to give myself a little extra beauty - bamboo would certainly suffice.
