Whitney Lyons The French doors are 300 years old. They are complete with antique hardware and a sliding bolt latch which are framed outside by hand-chiseled stone blocks. Unfortunately, I don't know what the stain color is....Sorry I can't be of more help!
Why are the downpipes painted black - I love this house. The colors are sublime. Only one thing wrong. The downpipes should be painted in the same color as the walls. They are not an Architectural feature and should be blended in so that all the other features make the statement »
What type of lighting would you use on the interior to have warm bright light ? - I love the grey and. What type of lighting brings out the bright warm glow when looking in? And when you are in a rainy area how do you design interior lighting to be bright? (not dull yellow but; warm bright.) There is a definable balance. The weather and rain make this so difficult. What side of the Columbia? Willamette is this on? »
Marriott's home makes a bold curbside statement. To the right is a three-car garage with a small living space above for guests. The house sits on a half-acre of land. There is no grass on the property making yard work an easy task. The driveway is quarter round gravel and is safer to walk on than pea gravel because it doesn't roll under foot.
Gravel has an appeal that naturally pairs with other charming English country features, like exterior stone facades. Gravel is a relatively inexpensive material to consider for driveways, and I love the way it sounds when a car pulls up.
rock along bottom of the house, and windows with shutters and I love the wood thing going on around the garage doors... could we make a porch or entry with that?
overall lines/architecture, love the full length windows that flank the double door! I don't even mind that the garage is at the front of the house. I love the gravel driveway too!
Windows on main part of the house (center section) run all the way to the floor like a french door. Windows on outside projections are more "normal" height.
