Do you need to use expansion material if you only have one row of blocks in a wall? - Tell us the dI am making a tiled show and want to put 5 12”X12” blocks one on top the other in the wall to bring in some natural light. Would I have to use the expansion material on the sides or just use silicone sealant? Should I use some waterproof membrane to wrap the edges on the inside to keep them from getting wet?etails here. »
Zenteriors by Camian Larson I would strongly suggest you contact a local distributor of glass blocks in your area and follow the manufacturer's installation instructions. I am not qualified or comfortable in giving you instructions. Best of luck!
Innovate Building Solutions You generally don't need expansion material for a window or wall under 25 square feet - but there are several systems of installing glass block windows that could be used (we do some projects with vinyl framed glass block windows and other with "frameless" windows that installed differently depending on if you're going into a masonry or a framed wall).
I'm going to include two links below to help you. The first is to our learning center where you'll find all the spec information you'll need. The other two links will be to the vinyl framed glass block page and then also to the frameless glass block window page. Hope these links help - but if you need further input just give us a call.
