Main floor of the house had no storage space. Client wanted to use the space under the main staircase. This picture shows all the storage compartments, large coat rack, middle section with 3 drawers and small shoe drawer. The left side of the built-in is capped with a bookcase.

Can this be done to any type of stairs? - If so how much would something like this cost? I am very interested in getting this done »
Lipa - Wood & Stone Work The price really depends on few different things. Is the space already open or does it require mayor reframing and dry walling? The space under this staircase was already open and there was nothing in the way of the installation. Another thing that will effect the price is the materials used for construction. Cases and drawers can be made out of particle board or plywood. For the doors I would recommend going with plywood, bamboo ply or solid wood. For proper raised panel doors wood is the only option. Because these kind of built ins are always custom, design and plan drafting needs to be added as well. Depending on all these factors the price can range from $4500 to upward of $10000.
How do I do this? - Would like to know where you can get rails to hold a substantial suspended weight for pull out, understair storage. Had the same idea but can't find a rail to hold the weight. »
And look at how handy it is to access all of that storage when it all slides right out instead of you having to crawl into that deep, dark closet. So tell us: What would you put in a secret compartment?More:Secret Passages and Hidden SpotsBlended Doors for Standout Style
