Design help please- - Imagine that there is a window where the tall cabinets on the left side of the photo are. The bottom of the ledge begins approximately 2 inches below the height of the counter. There is a radiator beneath it that is approximately 5 inches wide. I am working from an existing peninsula and I would like to widen it. I am considering creating an L shaped peninsula similar to this but longer and both sides would be counter height. Would this look strange since it would be slightly higher than the bottom of the window? How much space would you leave between the window and radiator and and the side of the L? Enough to put a chair there? Good or bad idea? Suggestions? »
Celia James Whenever l am placed in the position of having to put worktop across a window and above the cill height l use a 50mm high upstand in the same material as the worktop across the edge of the worktop. This provides an edge to the worktop to stop things/crumbs etc falling over onto the cill and also gives a clean look to the worktop where there is no wall behind it.
Celia James I'm sorry I can't remember it was done a few years ago. The finish is eggshell i.e semi sheen just like slate. Amtico used to make something like it but I don't know if they still do.
