Kick plate position seems at odds with the function of the doors- - wouldn't they be needed more toward the center where feet are more likely to hit them? »
You would be absolutely correct in what you are saying if the bottom piece of brass that you are viewing was actually a kick-plate. What you are seeing at the lower part of the door is the pivot-hinge that opens and closes the door.
Thank you so much and have a great night

I love this look. Where did you get the door and what color is it? And please tell the floor tile and brand - Love this look where did you get the door? What color is it and please don't leave the floor out »
Thank you for your question. There are a couple ways that you can achieve the look of these butler doors. You an find doors that are already pre-made (search online or at your local building supply store) or you can custom make your own.
These doors were custom made and the openings have a custom made black iron motif with center sphere in gold that was carried throughout the home.
swinging doors is a great idea if they block noise- The closer your laundry room is to the rest of your house, the more sound will be an issue. If you are building the room from scratch, install batt insulation in the walls to reduce noise. These are heavy appliances that move around a lot
