Emily Hurley It's so hard to tell in photographs, but judging by the people in the photo, I'd estimate around 7x4. The important part is figuring out what size would work in your own space and adjusting what inspires you to work for your place. Hope that helps!

Rebekah Zaveloff White subway tile is so classic... Can't really go wrong. 3x6 is the most common size, and glossy is the most common and classic finish. I'd go with a non-crackle handmade optile in a 3x6. Ann sacks has a line called capriccio... But there are others as well.

wsckky We have unfinished white oak wide planks which look very classic modern, hides dust/hair/nicks & dents. They have been down for about 6-7 yrs and yellowed a bit from aging... We couldn't match it when we wanted to extend the wood floor to an adjacent step down family room, so we installed Brazillian Cherry, which shows every nick & dent and dust at all times. Lot's of vacuuming!

cambridgeblue It's a beautiful butcher block top! According to the architect responsible for the kitchen, this is reclaimed apple cider vinegar barrel wood from Heritage Salvage in Petaluma. Heritage doesn't have much of it, and it is $100 per sq ft, so a significant investment!
