What kind of garage door? - I am thinking about putting a garage door in our house to achieve the same effect as in the picture? What issues are there with winter heating? Thanks! »
Jordan Iverson Signature Homes This door came from Northwest Door. There have been no issues with sealing or heating and the home is ENERGY STAR certified. Having said that, and it being the first in the area to be in a living space, it took months of research and getting through red tape from the city to the state level to prove it could be done. The owners are extremely happy with it. Part of the key was finding a door that had not just insulated glass, but also the frame. There were quite a number of finish details to correctly seal it as well. It was definitely a challenging feature, but rewarding to see it finished like I knew it could be done.
Charmean Neithart Interiors, LLC. If you are asking about different paint colors on walls I would suggest accent walls. Pick any color that you like and choose one or two walls, preferable consecutive walls, for your color accent. You could add further colors by painting niches, as in the above picture, a third color. I wouldn't paint more than 3 colors. Consider additional colors in art and fabrics. Hope that helps. Charmean Neithart
COASTROAD Hearth & Patio Since no one from Jordan Iverson Signature Homes has answered yet, I can probably help a little.
The fireplace at the right end appears to be an ethanol fueled type, open on three sides. Frankly, there aren't too many codes governing the installation of these units, so you can do pretty much whatever you want, but make sure you follow the installation instructions carefully.
The cantilevered concrete hearth was probably cast in place.
The overall arrangement is probably about 24" deep, plus the depth of the cantilevered hearth.
The whole arrangement appears to be about 14' x 9' tall.
EcoSmart Fire Everything about the installation points to it being an ethanol fueled fireplace. EcoSmart Fire has several burners, including the BK5, that could match the look of the installation.
Jordan Iverson Signature Homes Thanks for the question. The homeowner provided these and they were from CB2.com, but they purchase them about 2 years ago.
Jordan Iverson Signature Homes Thanks for the question, it was a custom mixed color requested by the homeowner that was matched to be a few shades lighter than the gray concrete hearth below. It is definitely not a blue tone as I didn't want it to be a cool or cold gray. This is a very similar color: http://www.myperfectcolor.com/en/color/102152_Ralph-Lauren-VM154-Boulder-Grey. Good luck!
The area where you will lay the floor affects the type of floor that can be used. If you have hot-water or electric radiant heat, you can install wood flooring, but you must follow the manufacturer's instructions, and you will probably be limited to engineered wood. Main living areas like the first floor, kitchen and family room benefit from a harder wood, like oak or ash. In a bedroom or on a third floor, a softer wood (such as pine) will hold up just fine.
