Whitten Architects Flat cut stones might be slightly easier to clean. Take a look at http://www.islandstone.com ... they have a "level pebble" series of flat cut stones that is very nice. A penetrating sealer is an option and will help keep water out of the grout and tiles, it does however need to be maintained periodically. That being said it will not eliminate the need to clean and dry the shower regularly. One potential downside of the sealer is it will change the color of the stone and give it a glossy sheen. Hope this helps!
Whitten Architects Hello and thank you for your question. Glass shower doors like this are available through "Basco Shower Enclosures". Take a look at bascoshowerdoor.com.
floridaorchid Love your bathroom. II am having our master bath remodeled and my shower is going to have flat cut honey onyx stones on the floor. They have asked whether I want a matte penetrating sealer or glossy. What did you use and do you think a glossy finish would be too slippery? I have hard water and thought glossy would be better plus bring out of colors of the stone but don't know if it would make it too slippery.
Statements Tile We have found that, with the pebble mosaics, there is sufficient grout to provide traction for your feet regardless of whether the pebbles are glossy or matte.
Whitten Architects Hello and thank you for your question. This is a custom milled tongue and groove boarding that we call "nickel-gap". When the boards are fitted together a gap is left between each board that is about the width of a nickel.
What type of flooring is the shower? Is it comfortable to stand on? - Love the shower floor trying to convince my husband that a pebble floor is nice and comfortable too. »
floridaorchid I have flat cut honey onyx stones on the floor of my shower and it is very comfortable to stand on and it looks fabulous. My husband didn't want a pebble floor either but he really likes the flat cut stones as you don't even think about the stone floor even though we were used to a tile floor.
I am deciding on 1 or 2 panel wood door with square sticking (shaker / mission style). The dilemma is stain grade trim/jam increase the cost of the doors significantly.
I am considering using painted jam and trim but thought the combination may not look good. This picture actually looks pretty good.
I was thinking about 2" square trim but I may consider changing it.
How thick and deep is this trim? Is the trim above the door deeper and wider than the 2 vertical trims?
For windows, would you also make the top and bottom slightly wider? »
hilltop1155 This trim looks like 1x3 or 1x4 width. Definitely go with wider trim around your doors. The painted trims here do look wonderful with the wood.
Pipeline Supply-Decorative Hardware Division The type of locking pocket door hardware in this picture is a mortise pocket door lock system. Go to Von Morris and Valli and Valli to get a good look at your options. The Emtek is your typical inexpensive cutout pocket door lock costing around $20-25. The mortised pocket door sets costs are in your low to mid $100 range. http://www.vonmorris.com/detailview.cfm?cat=Pocket_Door_Trim
What kind of pocket door lock is that? - Do you know where I can get a pocket door like that? I also love theat pocket door. Thanks for sharing because I wasn't sure that I could use white border with wood door.
Would love to findout about pocket door lock. Thanks for sharing. »
How does the door function? - It's like a pocket door but perhaps without the pocket? I'm trying something similar. What do you use for a track for the door? »
Is that pocket lock door defeatable? - We are looking to divide our hall bath with a pocket lock door to give privacy to toilet/bath area. We were told that you need to be able to one the lock fom the out side in case of emergency. Can you do this with a pocket lock door? I looked at emteck and did not see that aspect in the lock description. Thanks. »
While all the doors in my home will be painted white, there's something inherently beautiful about natural wood. Here, the horizontal panels show off the grain.
