new slate from our region. maybe $800 a square, material and installation (10 foot by 100 foot area on the roof)
Check out slate quarries in the Granville, New York area. Some must have web sites.
Roof last 100+ years so in the long range it is a low cost if you plan on passing on your building to family. In our New England region we have 4 to 6 generations living in the same building. So it is cost effective. In my blog I have an Ira barn that has been in the same family for 7 generations. The current generation is trying to find new owners as they have not kept up the barn.......................Does anyone think past there generation any more?
