The entire grounds of this Lake Minnetonka home was renovated as part of a major home remodel.
The orientation of the entrance was improved to better align automobile traffic. The new permeable driveway is built of recycled clay bricks placed on gravel. The remainder of the front yard is organized by soft lawn spaces and large Birch trees. The entrance to the home is accentuated by masses of annual flowers that frame the bluestone steps.
On the lake side of the home a secluded, private patio offers refuge from the more publicly viewed backyard.
This project earned Windsor Companies a Grand Honor award and Judge's Choice by the Minnesota Nursery and Landscape Association.
Motherbear is right....The lime green one is sweet potato vine (Ipomea) but I think the red one might be Impatiens walleriana (double red impatiens). They look like little red roses and bloom all summer long. Google the name for more close up pics. I hope this helps!
It is Bluestone. The stone is mortared onto a concrete foundation which contains heating cables to keep the steps and landing free of snow and ice during the winter.
I have a front door that is rounded just like this, looking for a way to add cover and a nice porch and keep the integrity of the structure. This is a clever way.
The entrance to this home appears so grand and it stands out as a focal point when looking at the house. I feel that is the statement you want to make when others see your home.
