This intimate, interconnected landscape gives these homeowners three spaces that make being outside a joy.
Low stucco walls create a courtyard near the front door that has as unique sense of privacy, making it a great place to pause and view the pond below.
Under the deck the stucco walls wrap around a patio, creating a perfect place for a cool refuge from hot summer days. A custom-made fountain is integrated into the wall, a bed of lush flowers is woven into the bluestone, and a view to the surrounding landscape is framed by the posts of the deck above.
The rear patio is made of large bluestone pieces. Grassy seams between the stone soften the hard surface. Towering evergreens create privacy, drifts of colorful perennials surround the seat walls, and clumps of Aspen trees define the entrance to this enchanting outdoor room.

Grass - I am wondering how do you keep grass I mean watering the grass vs. not damaging furniture due to water? »
I am planning to do similar type of project in my back yard. - And I am planning to do it on my own. Are you a landscaping professional or a home owner.
Can you please provide this information.
1. What kind of pavers.
2. you mentioned it is sod, does it need to be ordered in any special cuts to accomidate between the pavers.
3. Did you use sand or wet concerte method between pavers.
Any write up which will explain little bit on how you did the project will be much helpful.
thanks. »
Windsor Companies We are professional Landscape Architects specializing in Design/Build. This is irregular Bluestone flagstone. The sod comes in standard rolls 24" x 60" and is custom cut on-site by our craftsmen. The flagstone are placed on sand.
Moonlake Landscaping, Inc. Depends where you live, In the Midwest we install a base of compacted crush stone first for stone stability and then a layer of sand to set the stones in place.
Will moss grow at 5,000 ft. snow country No. California? - We have beautiful summers here. Our patio area will be in full sun all day and we are trying to conserve water. We get very little rain in the summer months June-Sept. Also, wondering if the snow will kill the moss every winter? »
Moonlake Landscaping, Inc. I would recommend to use a push mower, unless you can operate the weed eater really good and maintain the same cutting height
Windsor Companies This irregular Bluestone flagstone is spaced 4"-8" apart. This allows for enough soil to sustain the small bits of grass between the stones.
As is the case with pavers and gravel, the pavers make the space easy to traverse, while the foliage allows moisture to permeate and creates a more restful aesthetic than a large, monotonous hardscape. In moist climates like this one, mosses make for appropriate joints.
We like the openness of this area, and even though it is not a big plot of grass, if feels lush. we like the stones too (maybe concrete is cheaper way to get this look)
