Island clearance - What is the clerance betwen the island and the stove? Our kitchen design has a 6 ft. clearance because of columns we need the island to go to, but I'm trying to visualize how that space would look. This looks like a larger clerance and looks nice. »
Renaissance Kitchen and Home No, if it isn't an integral part of your working triangle, and it doesn't look disconnected from the rest of the cabinetry than 6' would be fine.
Here is a project that had a 5' walkway on the working side of the island.
This Island was almost 54"wide and 115"long.
Kelly Cross You are correct it is a larger clearance, the clearance between the island & range is 51". This kitchen was specifically designed for entertaining (as there is a catering kitchen located on the other side of the wall behind the range). This being said the larger path ways accommodate for several people being in the kitchen at once, which was important to this particular design.
This kitchen would be considered quite large, and is set up to accommodate not only the homeowner but caterers. The 51" is certainly above average, but in this scenario the design required a larger distance.
krissygirl27 Kelly, how many coats of stain do you apply to this floor? Is the stain minwax? Alo is this oil base or water base poly, how many coats? Sorry for so many question. We just love these floors!!
Kelly Cross Yes it is a minwax stain, and unfortunately I am not for absolute sure but I do think it is a oil base, and I am not sure to the amount of coats.
Rebekah Zaveloff Based on the apparent cabinet sizes, that looks to be about 9' long, plus the 12" raised overhang on the end. It appears to be about 48" deep
