3 Awesome DIY Door Transformations The Lettered Cottage, Vintage Simple, Just Beachy It's interesting how the often-overlooked details— hardware, baseboards, etc.— can make the difference between a fabulous and a commonplace house. Doors are one of those easily-ignored, but high impact details, and these fabulous door updates from a few favorite blogs have me mighty excited. I love seeing the creative ways that design bloggers have used their DIY prowess to work around challenging elements in their home, rather than ripping out the culprits and sending them to the landfill. Hats off to these inspiring bloggers! • 2. Before, 3. During, 4. After. The Lettered Cottage 's guest bathroom door update. Layla and Kevin replaced a standard-issue lackluster door with an old one that they outfitted with epoxied plexi-glass. The epoxy finish to the plexi-glass maintains total privacy, but still allows light to filter from the bathroom window into the hallway. Check out Kevin's detailed DIY instructions here . And in case you missed their beautiful house tour on Apartment Therapy, you can check it out here . • 5. Before, 6. During, 7. After. Vintage Simple' s bi-fold door update. I am so inspired by Maria's slatted door transformation. Some of the older doors were replaced with these unsightly beasts in the 90s, and I have been trying to figure out what to do with them without replacing them. Maria covered the slatted portions of the door with beadboard, and then added simple trim to round out the look and cover the gap where the beadboard meets the existing door. What was once an eyesore is now a happy focal point! Check out the full transformation here . • 8. Before, 9. During, 10. After. Just Beachy 's dog-proof screen door update. DIY powerhouse, Chris Kauffman, came up with this stylish solution after replacing the torn screens (courtesy of her very cute dog) one too many times. She inserted painted beadboard where the screen had been, and adhered it with a staple
