The original owners of this house had long surpassed the original kitchens layout and usefulness. 30 years and the changing needs of a kitchen had finally caught up with this otherwise impressive home. The biggest problem with the old kitchen was a large peninsula that angled out into the center of the room, virtually cutting off the breakfast nook from the room and making getting into the pantry and fridge very inefficient.
The new kitchen design uses the long length of the room to it's advantage, by allowing for an extended island which connected the breakfast nook to the kitchen making it all flow together. At just over 11 feet long the homeowner initially had some serious doubts about the proposed islands size, but after some measuring and remeasuring(and some coaxing) she was convinced it would work. And now that it's all done, she couldn't be happier! (and that makes us happy)

Do you have plans to build the cabinet??? - I would like to make one for the end of our kitchen cabinet. »
TRS Designs, Inc (Kitchens, Baths, & More) We do not have plan for building this cabinet. This is a standard cabinet from our Diamond cabinet line. It can be ordered unfinished if you would like to finish it yourself to match your existing cabinetry. Feel free to email us directly for additional info or pricing.
elwelsh The contractors just finished up my kitchen..when I was brouseing through the internet and stumbled onto your website and lo and behold ...you had remodel a kitch with the exact same cupboards and I had put in mine...but was not offered the option of this message center or the the cabinet with glass doors at the end of the island are thease pices available to buy...you have done a great job on this kitchen...I have designed my own new kit ...knocked out some walls and boy how proud do you this I am? Anyway if you can e-mail me regarding those two pices I would appreciate it.Thanks,Elizabeth
TRS Designs, Inc (Kitchens, Baths, & More) Hi Elizabeth,
The black cabinet with glass doors requires a significant amount of assembly (read 'custom work') by the installing contractor and therefor isn't exactly available as a single unit, rather the individual pieces and parts that comprise it.. Technically it is order-able, but there's quite a bit more involved than just that.
The message center is available to order as a single unit, but it does require some planning to fit it as shown into the overall design and if your room is finished, then I'd be concerned that it may not fit 'correctly'. I have used the message center in a few applications where we installed it flat on a wall, instead of on the side of another cabinet, so this may also work for you if you have the wall space for it.
If you could email me directly ( ThomasRichard@TRS-Designs.com ) more info about your kitchen layout, the cabinet brandname, doorstyle, and woodspecies/finish info I could review it to see if these could be worked into the layout. Also be sure to include a contact phone number so I can reach out to you to discuss in more detail.
Thank you,
Thomas Richard
GREAT IDEA! In mudroom, close to the door to the garage, create a cupboard like this. It's for recharging electronic devices, keeping keys and eyeglass/sunglasses, putting mail you want to take to the mail box or post office, etc. LOVE IT!
