A small, late 19th century Noe Valley house is comprehensively restored, re-designed, and furnished with a modern sensibility. Intact period details in the front living, dining, and bedroom spaces are uncovered and celebrated with assertive paint schemes. The kitchen and rear porch (spaces without salvageable or interesting original elements) are gutted and opportunistically reconfigured to maximize their utility and connection to the out-of doors.

When I think of homes painted with wonderful color, San Francisco is the city that comes to mind. Living in this city for several years was such an incredible treat for the eyes, and this home is a perfect example. The happy robin's egg blue on the door is repeated on the window casings, creating a vibrant contrast against the subtle yellow facade.
I like the siding, color of the siding (but not the blue), and all the gingerbread details that we probably can't afford. I am not crazy about the brick steps.
