PH Snowball Pendant, by Louis Poulsen | Danish Design Store
Quantity: Out of Stock
This piece is so strikingly sculptural, it's no surprise it was designed by an architect. But what you can't see from the photo is that it's also a brilliant piece of light engineering. Lighting was Poul Henningsen's specialty, and he designed this pendant so that each curved, layered shade is struck by light at exactly the same angle, creating a glare-free, even white light, almost like a full moon.

ThePoulsen PH Snowball Pendantis a wonder not only of glare-free illumination, but also of precise mathematics. Designer Poul Henninsen shaped the Poulsen PH Snowball Pendant so that every surface is struck by a ray of light at exactly the same angle, creating even illumination without harsh glare. The Poulsen PH Snowball Pendant Lamp features glossy top shades for sparkling light, and matte undersides to prevent reflections. The result is an even, warm glow. Poul Henningsen designed the Snowball Pendant in 1924, and many consider it to be a smaller version of the PH Louvre he made for the Adventist Church in Skodsborg, Denmark. Henninsen's inspiration was the quality of light he'd experienced from petroleum lanterns, which lined the streets of the small Danish town he grew up in. 200W max. UL Listed. Installation required.
