About the Hood by RObert Kane - I am petite, only 150cm tall. The height of the hood is well clear off my head. So I don't bump my head when attending to the cooking But it is a problem for my husband he is much taller than I am well over 1.85cm. So when he attends the cooking he always bumps his head to our existing cooker hood. So we are looking to replace the hood with something suitable for both of us. I should be able to reach to controls without standing on something and without solely relying on the remote controls as well as for it to be easy to reach to the awkward areas of the hood to clean it without having to climb over the cooker and for my husband without bumping his head whilst he is cooking.
I love the look of the the Hood by Robert Kane here. So my question is what is the minimum and the maximum clearance between the actual extractor part of the hood and the cooker? If we install the hoods higher than recommended minimum requirement will the hood reduce its capability to suck out the smell etc. during cooking?
How do we get round of this problem?
By the way from the floor to the top the height of the ceiling is 250cm. the height of the cooker from the floor is 90cm.
This sort of technical questions are not answered in the installation
manuals. Any comment is appreciated. »
Custom Home Planning Center You may also increase the size of the motor to compensate for the added height. I might also suggest something that I've done in the past with two cooks of different heights. Set the the range on a two part platform. One part supports the range on the left and right and the center section uses heavy duty drawer slides to slide the platform out or in as needed.
I have made very good use fo the the advice you both have given me
I don't live in the US or Canada. Therefore it was very difficult to find a hood that ticked all of the points Futuro Kitchen Range Hoods and Custom Home Planning Center raised.
1.) Height recommendation from the hood manufacturer.
2.) Height recommendation from the cooktop/range manufacturer.
3.) Height of kitchen users / cooks, including eye level.
4.) Depth of counter top vs depth of range hood.
5.) Airflow power (measured in CFM or m3/h) of the range hood
6) increase the size of the motor to increase the power of the hood to reduce the extraction time without adding extra height
Eventually I found KARI from westin.co.uk in the UK. As an off-the-shelf product KARI ticked all of the requirements without having to get a bespoke one made.
We got KARI with two motors installed exactly 800mm from the surface of the counter top I only need to lift my arm about 18 to 20cm above my head to reach to the controls.
Now we do deep fry, barbeque etc in the kitchen without having to open the doors and windows. And we do not smell a thing at the other corner of the kitchen - The kitchen is only 4 by 4 m. KARI with two fans is taking care of everything. I am able to reach the control buttons without any problem. My Husband does not bump his forehead when cooking. It is also very easy to clean. We have sorted out a major technical issue and we have got a very sleek and elegant and beautiful looking hood in the kitchen.
We are using KARI as a stand alone attached to the wall with the ducting going through the ceiling into the loft and the to the outside.
We are doing the DIY ourselves so when we get round we are going to put units around KARI . something similar to the picture uploaded. The picture uploaded is from the manufacturer's site just to give the idea.
Again, thank you all for the valuable technical advice you have given me.
Great details. Even though this range hood is smaller than the previous example, the intricate carvings, corbels and decorative accessories add an impressive amount of detail.
Select a style and color that relates to the rest of your kitchen. I love this panel created from pillowed metallic tile set on the diagonal. It has the appearance of a quilt, brings out the silver gray tones in the granite, and softens the stainless steel range. If you look closely, you can see small square accent tiles (called "dots" in tile lingo). The thin coordinating bar liner is the perfect finishing touch in this French Country kitchen.
Try to ignore the style! Use of contrasting detail behind the stove with a band of that detail continued horizontally. Could be used to incorporate the colors in the granite.
