I was wondering if you have any plans of how you made the bed. We have access to pallets and have been looking how to use them for a bed. Do you have any instructions? Thank you and awesome bed! »
kylemc1985 Thanks for the comment! As for the plans, I do not have any. Basically I just built 2 identical frames out of 2X4's, all were joined with aluminum brackets. The bed does not use box springs, the mattress sits on 2x4's that are turned on there edge and screwed into the bed frame. I built it to fit a king so the dimensions are about 3 inches bigger all around than a king. I had to build it in two seperate pieces to get it from the garage into the bedroom, once it was in the room i connected the two halves with brackets. From the floor to the top rail of the bed is 15 inches, anything taller in my opinion is hard to get in and out of. The headboard is a seperate unit, they are not connected....I just have the headboard sitting on 2x4 blocks until I hang it on the wall. Overall the project cost right at $100, the most expensive thing were all the brackets I used. I have uploaded a few more photos of the frame...it's not complete in the additional pictures, it is still lacking the sides. Any other questions just let me know!
