Thanks for your prompt reply to my earlier question Mark - my "dated" open staircase is 17 feet in linear length. so would you agree that I'm looking at approx $1000 in fabricated railing, and probably another $2000 in renovation expense? sanding, painting, adding new wooden stairs to replace my existing carpeted stairs, and of course installing the new railing.
The photo mentions "quality metals" as the stair constructor.....what does that mean? Did they do the entire stair reno? Are they just a stair railing mfg? Are they local to Colorado?
Appreciate any help. My wife and I want to get rid of this eye sore 1978 staircase in 2012. »
Artistic Stairs Inc. That type of stair and railing combo I would say would be closer to $300 per foot minimum. You could probably start by checking for steel manufacturers in your area or stair and railing companies could direct you to a local supplier.

mark gerwing this is hard wood treads, with a nosing that makes the distance between treads less than 4" (code req.). The rail is 5/8" dia. steel rods, 4" on center with a 1 1/2" dia. wood handrail. This rail is about $70/linear foot. the stair stringers (undercarriage) are two painted steel tube sections.
