A small Victorian cottage is remodeled to reflect it's original aesthetic in the historic district of Oak Park, Illinois, outside of Chicago. A graphic feel is adopted with soft butter yellow cabinetry and dark hardware set off with a custom black hood. The black leathered granite countertops highlight the contrast as does the black open island in a distressed Lyptus black wood , a butlers pantry is created for additional storage with a nod to the original architecture and artfully displayed with it's gentle arch that softens the space. The dark floor with rustic overtones stages the kitchen with a wide plank wood detailing that is made in porcelain.
