Whitten Architects This is considered a 3-Season porch. While it is obviously not well insulated, it is separated from the rest of the house via exterior grade french doors. The floor is radiant to allow for some space warming.
Whitten Architects Hello and thank you for your question. This is considered a 3-season porch ... meaning that due to its sunny southern exposure it can be a comfortable space in the shoulder seasons and sometimes on a sunny winter day. It is over a foundation and the concrete slab below the bluestone tiles includes radiant tubing. This provides some space warming. In the summertime the glass panels are swapped out for insect screens.
Whitten Architects Thank you for your question. The wall trim is finished with "Cabot's" OVT solid acrylic stain - color "#0611 White". The screen / window frames are painted a custom color.
Rustling Oaks Farm - I have been trying to locate this type of floor tile with no luck locally. Does anyone know the specific name/type, and where one can purchase -- Lowes, Home Depot, specialty tile store? Thank you for any information provided! »
Whitten Architects Location of the screen porch in relationship to the surrounding environment is always pretty important. This porch is protected from wind driven rain by the surrounding woods. In addition, there a decent sized roof overhangs above the screens. If a little water does get in, the south facing orientation allows the sun to quickly dry things out.
What windows did you use - What is the type of windowsyou used that can swap out the glass and have screens in the summer. I am looking for exactly this type of room. »
Diana Bier Interiors, LLC google "Combination Door Company" in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. We used them for our screened porch and have both screens and glass panels. They are fantastic!
Gorgeous 3 season porch!! Could you please tell us about the windows? - I would love to know who makes a window like this that can be screen most of the year and closed up for winter. Thanks so much! »
