The open area over the bank of drawers is a charging station for cellphones, iPods, and other portable devices.
The top of the cabinet lifts up on a hinge to reveal a shallow hiding space for papers.

3. Set up a charging station. By placing every small item that needs to be charged — such as phones, mp3 players and tablets — in one place, you'll always know where they are. Keeping everything in one spot also helps keep other rooms from looking cluttered.
11. Charging station. The key to the perfect charging station is easy access a place to hide clutter. A cabinet like this with open cubbies and drawers below is a great setup.
Hmmm. There ought to be some place we could tuck one of these. Maybe in the walk in closet in the MBR. Maybe if I kept the drop front cabinet from my study in the closet I could set up the drop front.
