A before shot shows a glimpse of the dilapidated garage before the makeover. Essentially everything but the main structure was redone, although the team did keep the concrete floors. Working with the creative client was definitely a highlight for this design team. Buchholtz encouraged them to push the boundary — and they did. When your budget's tight, you get creative when searching for a new home. French photographer Jérémie Buchholtz wanted a modern house but didn't want to break the bank. When he found an old garage for sale near downtown Bordeaux, France, Buchholtz pounced on it and recruited architecture firm FABRE/deMARIEN to see if it had potential as a living space. In 6 months, the team transformed this 441-square-foot garage into a sleek and modern home for one, with a stunning solution for space-saving and privacy at its core.
