Searl Lamaster Howe Architects We used special wheels (castors) that lock when you step down. Same type as for the old library step stools that you could roll to a spot and then step on to click into position.
1. Help children reach the sink.Step stools are a must-have when it comes to kids accessing the sink. In a bathroom shared with adults, this idea for a pull-out style looks very grown up and slides out of the way when necessary. Place mirrors low enough so children aren't tempted to climb up on counters to see themselves.
1. Buy a step stool. Or better yet, have one built into your vanity like the one pictured here. Bathroom vanities are often designed a bit higher for adult use. If you make the faucet and other necessities your children will need in easier reach, it makes your job keeping them clean easier.
8. Agree on a bathroom schedule and stick to it. Avoid the drama of who goes first by setting and abiding by a schedule — a rule that keeps the peace among couples and large families alike.
I love the idea of built-in step stools! We should have these in the kitchen as well as kids' bathroom. Sienna is out growing them, but younger cousins and future grandkids can use them!
