feeny I don't think anyone can answer that question. If we could predict the future we'd all be millionaires. But white appliances (unlike 1970's avocado green, for example) have been around for generations, with subtle variations in styling.

pattimay Karla - The stainless trim most likely came about to merge the stainless look for those that are tired seeing stainless but didn't want to go all white. Because of that I think these could actually be more of a fad and will eventually show that.
I guess the one and only good thing about appliances not lasting long these days is that you won't be stuck with something forever. The bad thing, our landfills are filling up quickly!!
To me, the all white will always be around as well as stainless. Restaurants and homes have always used stainless but because they became a fad people are getting tired of them but I don't think they will ever go out or look dated.
The final conclusion.... It's your kitchen - get what you want and like. Don't worry about others or fads. Heck if you want an old avocado one and can find it - by all means do it. LOL!!!
Sometimes we worry too much about that stuff and lose focus on what we like and say the heck with others.
I'm in the process of building, I have to keep reminding myself of that too!
