Traditional meets Mediterranean mediterranean exterior

Traditional meets Mediterranean

A traditional Sacramento County home was gradually transformed during a couple of projects: the house itself was enlarged and included the addition of new guest quarters over the existing garage, joined by a discreetly lit walkway or "Ponte Nuovo" as it is now affectionately called!

The house's exterior was pushed out extensively to include a new family room, master bedroom and bath suite and a tower which includes the homeowner's office and a stairway to the upper level, to a library area and the "Ponte Nuovo".

The existing kitchen was enlarged and given a classic makeover, whilst a new laundry room, second office and a guest powder room were created.

In the second remodel phase, as the property sits on a huge lot, various garden 'rooms' were designed to break up the large area. Between the new master bedroom suite and the garage/upstairs guest quarters, the space was ripe for a wonderful covered pergola area in order to enjoy intimate family meals and for entertaining purposes.

Although the entire garden and pergola space were created during the winter months of 2012 - 2013, the 2013 Spring plantings have settled in very well and are thriving. The new wisteria here is well on its way to covering the metal roof to provide much needed shade during the hot summer months!
