Scope of work:
Update and reorganize within existing footprint for new master bedroom, master bathroom, master closet, linen closet, laundry room & front entry. Client has a love of spa and modern style..
Challenge: Function, Flow & Finishes.
Master bathroom cramped with unusual floor plan and outdated finishes
Laundry room oversized for home square footage
Dark spaces due to lack of windos and minimal lighting
Color palette inconsistent to the rest of the house
Solution: Bright, Spacious & Contemporary
Re-worked spaces for better function, flow and open concept plan. New space has more than 12 times as much exterior glass to flood the space in natural light (all glass is frosted for privacy). Blue wall - Can you tell me the color details of the blue wall behind the vanity »
Stratton Design Group Carmine, thank you for writing. This is actually fixed windows to the exterior. It is frosted glass for privacy and this shot was taken at dusk. In the day light, this bath is flooded in a very soft wash of light. The frame of the windows is behind the mirror, just below the counter top and above the ceiling plane to have a crisp line. The finish materials come right up to the glass with about a 1/8" gap to allow the window to expand.
The cool trick here is that the walls of the house are behind the mirror, so the depth of the side of the mirror is the depth of the exterior wall. This allowed the deep recess in between the mirrors for decorative items and not take up the usable counter space. Notice there is a can light at each recess.
I wanted to use flood lights outside to back light the glass, but having the side of one's house lit up that bright was not going to happen...
Also you are right that it does look like a blue wall with semi gloss paint...
Stratton Design Group Dear Myriban, the drapes are actually stainless steel ball chain from shimmerscreen.com. They have many different sizes and colors - in the photo I used the smallest (least expensive) and silver color. You can see in the reflection that there is a track light to highlight the drape and create some sparkle. I also recessed the track that holds the individual strands into the ceiling for a flush look. This is a product I have used a few times and it is always stunning - if you have a high ceiling, run it the whole way floor to ceiling and it has even more impact.
I really like the elegance of this room. I love the lights and the pretty plant in the middle of the sinks. I also love the double drawers between the sinks. Surprisingly I like the mirrors with the thick frames.
