The Passage
Before Siemasko + Verbridge got their hands on this house, it was a convoluted maze of small rooms and skinny hallways. The renovation made sense of the layout, and took full advantage of the captivating ocean views. The result is a harmonious blend of contemporary style with classic and sophisticated elements. The “empty nest” home is transformed into a welcoming sanctuary for the extended family of kids and grandkids.

8. Create a library corner in any room with a round table. Tall bookcases are a welcome addition, of course, but a round table piled with heavy tomes can also stand alone as a mini library. Lean art on the wall or windowsill nearby to add another layer of interest. If you do have a tall bookcase, try pushing a demilune or long, narrow console table right up against it and stack more books on top.

This is a room with 8' ceiling and it works thanks to the beautifully detailed book cases and seamless woodwork.
This room actually reminds me of Wolfgang von Goethe's house in Weimar/Germany, which I had the chance to see last summer.
