Morocco is a country famous for its art and handicrafts. Moroccan pottery is very famous for its grandeur and versatility. People from all around the world who traveler to Morocco never forget to buy their pottery, it’s a different experience for the travelers. Each area has its own style and way of choosing the colour schemes. The major regions were we can find the beautiful earthen wears showcased in umpteen numbers are Safi, Fez, Meknes and the sale near the capital city of Rabat.

The Moroccan pottery appears almost in every region as they have small cooperatives. They argue that the best pottery is that of the Safi which has a pure artistic taste and has a beauty of itself. All type of items such as the daily used water jugs, the plates, the bowls to those potteries that are kept for interior decorations are all manufactured here. All these have become the likes of the tourists and as a result have increased the production. Two major cities were these ceramics can be bought are Fez and Meknes where the product is available in a light- green colour in Safi style.

The pottery made here undergoes the same process elsewhere. It takes about ten to fifteen minutes for making serving dishes, bowls, jugs, etc which is usually made on a spinning wheel. These items are then left to dehydrate; once they are dried up they are separated on the basis of the item and taken to the kiln, which is usually situated on the country –sides. These are put on fire using dry leaves, wood and broken branches. This process is the only way they can follow for firing though it is not environmentally stable.

After the firing is done they reach the next stage and that is the decorative stage were the design depends purely on the regions. After the painting is done the pots are again put under fire on the painted part of plates, jugs, bowl sets etc. The traditional Berber tribes still follow the 200 year old designs. The pots have an old outlook were no decorations are done over it for household purpose rather than those kept for sale at Fez and Marrakesh. Each province has its own magnificent and artistic talent.

Pottery of every state has a story of its own. The Fez pottery is found in white background with yellow, green and brown colours. The Safi pottery has another story to tell us, it is very much influenced by the Andalusia style with glazing and almost a metallic look. The well-known metallic green painted pottery is the main display on various artistic institutions across Morocco. The Meknes pottery is an adopted version of Fez. This is how Moroccan portrays a different image of itself to the world through its magnificent pottery works. Also it is to be said that anyone looking for beautiful interiors for their homes, Morocco is definitely the first choice to be made.
