barbaraosborne Yes ! There are so many things to take into account. I just think that too much is made from European vs American White Oak. You can achieve very similar colors with using the same techniques. Almost all of the engineered hardwood floors are European White Oak but they are pre-finished and often are distressed or hand scrapped. One has so many options today that it is possible to get almost any finish you could possibly want to achieve.
