Laminate tile - Love this home such a beautiful and well thought out design. I would really like to know if the glossy finish is a part of the laminate floor tile, or was it a treatment applied after installation? »
designideas4me Hi Vince, I was wondering how the convention was and what new exciting techniques and info you can share with those of us who are interested in art and concrete and faux finishes. I was excited about all your ideas but got lost in looking for a kitchen designer and cabinets I can afford so I can put the entire house together withing my budget. I did however decide to prime and paint a table today and see if it looks worth keeping. I love the metalic paint and as mentioned have lots sitting here. Again I am encountering streaks and discouraged. Did you say to get a glaze and if so what type? I have the pasic white pearl top coat of the martha stewart metal paint without a color or tint. I also tried using a foam roller that applied the primer very nicely . If I cant get rid of the streaks with the glaze you suggest than what type of sprayer should I use? I bought a small lightweight model but I have heard I need a more expensive heavy model . Its hplv or lvhp..lol. One of those. What specifically do I need? I really just wish I could get full smooth coverage with the roller. Ok thx.
VC Studio Inc. I'm still in Vegas. I'm actually cutting out early and leaving the packing for the other guys. I'll give you some answers when I can type instead OC pecking on the iPhone.
But...don't buy decorative products from the big box stores. The best metallic paint available to the public is Modern Masters. Metallics ate tricky to apply. It takes practice. Rollers are mediocre and a good hvlp (high volume low pressure) set up is expensive. Multiple layers cut with glaze gives a great look. More later.
Thanks for the question and interest in the LG House. The millwork is custom designed and built to suit the project. The panels are 1/2" thick Maple veneered ply with a Walnut Stain (WA-7205 - www.wallsalive.com)

h2leung Hi thirdstone, I love your house, giving me so much inspiration for the new home that I"m trying to renovate. I really love the floor. I know it is discontinued. Any ideas where else I can find something similar? Is the original panel glossy? If not, how did you make it glossy?
The flooring is a laminate in a solid charcoal gray to help ground the space, with a reflective finish for an airy feel. The TV is concealed behind maple wood cabinets with a walnut stain. “We wanted a traditional parlour feel, where we can sit with guests and have coffee or wine and a discussion,” the homeowner says. The inspiration came from Ludwig Mies van der Rohe's classic Farnsworth House (shown in this roundup of must-know modern homes). “I always wanted a living room with a modernist feel,” says the owner.
This looks to me like a nice reworking of a ranch home, without raising the roof, etc. Not crazy about the floor (tile? what is it?), but love the wood wall by the fireplace and the interesting f-to-c widows.
Hope this helps!.
