Hi,
We want to create a pass through between kitchen and dining room but from kitchen width of the wall is 7.5" feet and from dining its 10 feet. So pass through should be in the center or how should it be, how can we design crockery unit around that? please help... thanks!!! »
TanCalGal Not sure I understand, but that has never stopped me. ;-) Put the pass-through where ever it can be placed least expensively (don't remove structural beams, don't re-route plumbing etc). Don't worry about centering it on dining room or kitchen wall. Once you have decided where the pass-though is going to be (you might have to talk with a contractor to make sure you are placing it in the least expensive place), start designing the crockery unit. I would have have the doors on the unit in the dining room as well as the kitchen, so I could reach the shelves from either room.
how do you install a chair rail around a window that has a window molding - Our large kitchen window has a window molding and we want to add a chair rail. Does the rail go above the molding or below? »
Dining rooms are ideal for corners with windows on two sides. And with today's open plans, that means the kitchen also receives more sunlight. In this example the kitchen/dining area is adjacent to a small yard with some very nice landscaping. It's important to consider how the two-sided windows relate to the outdoor spaces, be they part of one's property or distant vistas.
