Perched atop a bluff overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, this new residence adds a modern twist to the classic Shingle Style. The house is anchored to the land by stone retaining walls made entirely of granite taken from the site during construction. Clad almost entirely in cedar shingles, the house will weather to a classic grey.

Take a look at the detail under the pair of windows in the center of the second floor. Something similar to this could be done on the left side of the front, accenting the wall space underneath the row of square windows and providing softening. Also note the beauty of how the arches are added, even on square corner windows on the left turret.
