Benjamin Abalone - I love Abalone and my husband and I bought several 5 gallons of Abalone paint after testing it and speaking with an interior decorator HOWEVER, for some reason it is turning out to have a purple undertone to it. This room does not look like it has a purple undertone at all. Any suggestions? should we change the lighting or go a different color route? We are going crazy going back and forth with this. »
cherger I used BM Abalone throughout my co-op and it looked completely different at different times of the day, depending on the light source. I can't say it ever pulled purple, but at times it looked beige, and grey, and white, and oyster, and some variations in between, with some blue thrown in for good measure at times!
For me, it had to do with the combination of light that was coming in through the windows and the curtains, mixing in with the incandescent light (or lack thereof).
I'm sorry you are having trouble with it. It is my favorite of the BM "neutrals", and I love it. My only other suggestion is to take what you have left, and haul it back to the place that mixed it, to make sure that they have mixed it in the proper proportions. (Or, alternately, take it to another place, have them mix a small amount, and compare the two...)
Good luck!
pcmom1 Weird things can happen with paint colors once they are on the walls and the light start bouncing off carpet, etc.
I painted my bedroom ceiling a warm toasty beige (at least it was while in the can). On the ceiling it is a light, cool dusty lavender (I call it San Francisco fog at sunset). Light bouncing off dusty moss green carpet, carribean green walls, light from north window all combined I guess.
cleoken I love the painting above the fireplace. I love the unframed canvas and I did something similar above my couch but was told that my furniture is too traditional and I should have something framed. I see here that your painting is not framed and I would love your opinion. Thanks
Cardea Building Co. This area rug is from the home owners' collection, so unfortunately we don't know where this was purchased. A good place to look for inspiration is nomadrugs.com.
ahdelite I Lu-Lu-luv the whole space and everything that was done! I am soooo copying. I am even gonna trade my flag rock fire place for a more simpler one! U rock!
Hi- this is a beautiful room. I realize that the true paint color may not be what we are seeing on our monitors but my room looks similar to this and I am trying to find a good wall color. I love the way this looks. Do you mind telling me the source?
Thanks

jcombs885 I have BM Abalone also, because I LOVED this room, it was my inspirateion! Really this whole house you did Cardea, is gorgeous! We have eggshell finish and it definitely changes color depending on the light and can look to have some violet. I love it though, it makes it intersting in my opinion :-)
Has someone from Cardea Building identified the paint color on the walls? - I also like the color on the walls and I know several people have commented on what color it is. Has anyone from Cardea Building responded to confirm which color they used? I couldn't tell from the names on the comments. »
