dimensions of shower - what are the dimensions of the shower in this photo and how wide is the half wall.. We are building a new house and no-one understands what I want... This is EXACTLY what I want and my husband, contractor and foreman are all telling me that the water will splash out all over the floor.... Please send me dimensions as soon as possible. They will be working on it again right after Memorial Day... Thank you so much »
marlene_s I stayed in a hotel in Singapore a few years ago in a room with a curbless, open shower with only a part glass wall separating it from the rest of the bathroom. It was so fabulous - I drew a sketch of it and promised myself to do one the next time I renovate a bathroom. I am preparing to renovate my bathroom next year and this is #1 on my list. By the way, the floor was the same throughout - I think that is a necessity in order to maintain the visual flow (no pun intended). I would agree with the dimensions cited above - with the shower area and the dry-off area being one uninterrupted space. The shower head (a rainfall style - important for better water containment) was centered in the 48" X 48" space designated for the shower area. Go ahead and do it, you're going to just love it!!
Wheelchair accessible concerns - This design is great! My concern is the space between the tub and shower, and whether how would a wheelchair fit underneath the sink? Can you help me with these things? »
ontherim The problem will be that they will not be able to get close enough to the bowl to perform their activities of daily living. Attached is a much better vanity design; photo taken at Signature Hotel in Las Vegas in October 2012.

marlene_s I think the floor in the bathroom and in the shower should be the same. Of the one I've experienced, that was one of the elements that made it seem so decadent.
Filing with the NYC Building Department - Hi, I have a client who is interested in converting an large closet into a Powder Room in a Brooklyn condo brownstone. She asked me if there was anyway to put a shower in also. I told her, because the space is so small the only thing to do, as I saw in Japan is have the whole run function as a shower with a commode and sink in it. The architect who does my expediting said this would never pass the Building Department - they don't allow curbless showers but here I am seeing your fabulous bathroom in Tribeca so I'm wondering. Would appreciate all feedback. Thanks Sara »
I love this bathroom; it has a definite Zen style. - The vessel sink is stunning.Do vessel sinks splash? My vanity hgt.
is 31 inches and my husband and I are short. What height should the vessel sink be for us? What color and type are the wall tiles? The floor? Are the vanities teak or bamboo?
Thanking you in advance for your help. »
Hi
How wide does the glass panel need to be to contain water splashing onto the vanity/floor from the hand held shower head and also how far away does the bath need to be?
Thanks »
The seeming simplicity of this bath disguises the planning that went into it. All of the elements here work together to optimize storage and contain splashing water: the two most important jobs any bath design has to do.
What do you think? Do you prefer showers with a curb or without?
The less shower doors, moldings, etc. to clean the better...especially in a mildew prone basement! I love, love, love the idea of a doorless shower. No doors here, but around the toilet! Perfect!
