This ranch style house has many custom features. Custom arched timber trusses and custom built-in cherry architectural woodwork are featured in this home around every corner. The design also gave us an opportunity to really push our experience with thin brick and stone material. The interior design utilizes brick and stone throughout the entire home. Thin brick and stone materials allowed more flexibility and eased integration with other features of the home. Using thin veneer materials allowed for reductions in structural loads, sizing, and in the budget, as well as, simplified the difficulties of integrating mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems that traditional thickness brick and stone present.
The project is located directly adjacent to a municipal water canal and therefore had great restrictions on water quality and run-off. One of the most challenging and therefore highlight features was incorporating water retention basins into the landscape design to retain 100% of run-off on the property. The exterior landscaping was laid out to incorporate these basins seamlessly into the design, allowing for functionality and still aesthetically enhance the landscape.
