What are the wall panels made from? - I would like to achieve this look in my house but have not been able to find any type of residential wall panels like them. »
Karrick The picture is of a sample of course... it is about 4" square to get a feeling for the scale of each piece. The stone comes on mesh backing in squares of 12" x 12".
Karrick The tile is partially mitered at the outside corner. The tile was installed after the wall was finished and butted against the finish wall at the inside corner.
Karrick The lighting is by a standard fiber optic light engine.... with side emitting cable on the top of the mass... and just securing the end of the cable with no fixture at the top of the fireplace 'frame'. I think if this were to be done again... it probably could've have been achieved with LED rope and LED button lights.
bbfill Thank you that was really helpful. I actually found it in a 1" x 2" size at a very high end tile place for 16.00 a sq. ft. These stones are smaller, which I like too. I will check it out at Home Depot.
How to,find exact stone - The mosaic tile you used is gorgeous. I have been looking for this exactly. Is there any way I could track down the brand or even contact the store where you bought it? »
7. Decorative lighting can be used to highlight architectural features. Without the additional lighting around this fireplace, it's just a large stone surround. The downlights around the firebox strengthen the contrast between the smooth and rough surfaces, while the uplights on top feature the graceful curve of the entire structure.
Lighten up. Accent lighting above this firebox is situated against the back wall to create a scalloping visual effect. The indirect lighting at the top of the fireplace points upward and spills onto the ceiling. Tip: Designing the fireplace in the same color family as the adjacent walls allows the lighting to become the focal point.
