Please tell me about the exterior of this home..... - We live in the midwest - freeze/thaw considerations. We lived in FL and my husband wants a home exterior like this on our 1-level neo-classical /slight french roof style home plan. We have "negotiated" putting an EFIS exterior in WHITE or CREAM. To keep it from showing
stains at the base.....we've discussed putting a SMOOTH CUT STONE or "formed concrete" where the home meets the foundation. However, the lot is sloped slightly north to the south and the front of the house faces west. That leads me to question - how the two would look together on the south end.....where because of the slope......the stone or formed concrete may be as much as 6-8 feet at the base. This has been a real challenge for us to find a happy medium that gets us both to an exterior that suits our goals. Any thoughts or comments ??? Thanks! »
rbcola Thank you so much for your time and advice! Since I initially put this question out there to you.....we decided to use a complimentary brick at the base with a stone/masonry "divider line" between (don't know the appropriate word. Apologies).
Your suggestion about using a non-organic material is something I will definitely pass on to the landscape designer. Thank you so very much!
I'm sorry I need to clarify your 1st statement ...
Are you promoting terraced landscaping on the west and east (front and back) of the home? Because that for sure was what I plan to do in front (west elevation) and I could see that in the back too.
Or, are you saying something different. Thank you.
