Sometimes original design elements can be beneficial to a new design and can be reincorporated. Other times they can be a hinderance. In this home, the three doors into the kitchen prevented a refrigerator from fitting into the space. The homeowners had to walk into a separate breakfast sunroom to gather their perishables for a meal. With a little thought to the walking flow, this was easily rectified. A little ingenuity made it possible to keep the original wainscot in the dining room in place while cutting out the upper portion as the building load support beam was blended into the original decorative ceiling soffit.

I can't actually REACH this cabinet without a stepstool, but maybe I can store holiday cookie cutters, my cake pan, things like that in here?
