HI, I looked at your web-site, what is a "merchant built house"? - And do you take on small projects, say in , Massachusetts??
Thanks, Love your work... »
Sennikoff Architects Good Morning, and thank you.
A merchant built house is a project built by a builder or developer to sale, as opposed to designing for a home owner to live in. Depending on the size of the project, we work any where. If you would like, you can email me at stevenb@sennikoffarchitects.com. I look forward to hearing from you. Steve Sennikoff
gkbates Thanks so much for your quick reply. And for your explanation. We are planning on doing something within a year (start) I will send you an email when I get the go ahead. Thanks, Gretchen
jrosestevenson Are there gutters installed on this home?. I am considering exposed rafters on my home and this is my number one question about the matter!
Sennikoff Architects No, there are no gutters on this home. With exposed rafter tails, you can still add gutters. You will lose seeing the rafter tail ends, but can still see the underside of the tails. You lose a little detail, but not much.
Rafter tails and top floor siding and corbels look pretty good. Nice simple window trim. 4 over 1 windows look interesting but not too busy. Very human scaled...
I really like the way the gable ends stick out...you can see in one of the next photos, that our house originally had some of this treatment. Maybe we could bring it back on the roof to the addition?
